In High Def- film defects, if present, matter much more than ever before. Excess noise & grain is not only disturbing to the audience, it reduces the fidelity of the codecs. Relation of compression with noise & grain is not understood too well by many re-mastering facilities. Grain management is critical to successful Blu-Ray delivery.
